"Seni" means the art in Silat.Usually, people understand from the phrase “Seni Silat” is the dance of Silat ( Tari and Bunga-bunga Silat). It is also true, but in the real meaning of “Seni Silat” related to every inch of moves (Gerak), stepping (Langkahan), move aside (Elakan), attack( Pukulan), tricks (muslihat) and the way of playing Silat is the “Seni” in Silat. For example here, to do the grappling hand we need to know where the joint of hand that we can lock with high effective so that the enemy cannot move to counter attack us. Even it is in high effectiveness order, there are ways to unlock the grappling hand. It all needs to study and learn from “Guru”.

The way of facing the enemy is also one of the “Seni” that apply in Silat. “Pesilat” will counter attack the enemy after three attacks from his enemy. The first and second attacks “Pesilat” still waits and try to be friend with enemy because Silat means to create the relationship not enemies. But if the enemy still with his intent to hit the “Pesilat” with the third attack, “Pesilat” will not allow it and defends himself with several moves and hits to aware the enemy, not to hit with full of angry. Calmness is the intent and the roots in Silat. If the enemy cannot fight anymore, “Pesilat” will not continue with his moves. But, need to know here, the enemy is still the enemy. Precaution is in his consideration.
